i had a dream last night that i was partying at danny tenaglia's house, while danny howells was laying down the tracks in the living room. it was so unexplicably cool. you can't imagine how sad i was to wake up.

i realized today, that tomorrow is arc's closing night in ny! it must have been weeks since i last heard anything about it, so i guess i must be subconsciously in-tune with this sad sad event. first twilo, now arc. all the great clubs are going down. guess it really is true that the dance scene has truly gone underground and is now in its dormancy phase. or maybe it's not the scene. maybe me and my friends are just growing up.

anyhow, i'm really tempted to jet down to ny this weekend for the tenaglia/howells extravaganza... but i guess i could just wait and see danny h at coachella.... hmmm...

Tonight was my second drawing class!.... and I already forgot to do my homework!! ...oooops. But it's ok. I suspect that my teacher's already got me pegged as a slacker. hopefully I will overcome this, and become a responsible star pupil. haha..

Feels strange to be attending class again. It's like regardless if it's high school, college or night classes with mature adults, somethings never seem to change. Aside from my forgetting my homework and being late to class, i got to know the other students a little more and discovered that even tho the time and place has changed, the personalties of kids i've schooled with haven't. they were all in attendance:

-the random foreign guy with a name the teacher couldn't pronounce.

-the sweet ditzy girl who drew a bottle of lip gloss for her homework, and when assigned next week's homework asked, "Can I just add to my homework from last week? I mean, it's not that I'm lazy... really I'm not! but I just don't want to draw something all over again..."

-the couple joined at the hips. From what I can tell, I think they're trying to save a shaky relationship by learning how to draw together.

-the quiet apathetic one, sitting behind the teacher doodling comic strips and sneaking food

And last but not least..

-the outspoken, enthusiastic ass-kisser who's slow to grasp new concepts and always eager to show off their mediocre work (even go so far as to bring entire portfolio in!). for some reason, these characters get to me. maybe it's because i recognize them as my opposites, or arch-nemeses if you will... *evil laughter pursues* . ..or maybe i am just jealous that they have the discipline to work hard and aren't afraid of sucking, and even when they do, they don't seem to mind. just keep plugging along. it's amazing to me.

Why is it that all the slow/untalented kids inherit all the motivation and discipline? and on the flip side, how come so many of the smart, quick witted, talented people that i know ALSO happen to be the laziest, unproductive procrastinating bastards that I know as well?

are we just a society of brilliant slackers and hard working dolts?

yeah yeah. i know there are probably a few highly motivated brilliant people out there, and maybe YOU are one of them. But as far as I'm concerned these people can be classified as "Freaks from Another Planet"...

anyway back to drawing, each class i am learning something new. and it feels really great! here's my first sketch from the egypt gallery. i'll update as i have more. hopefully they'll get better!

Spring is here! and that means, it's time to ditch all your dreary winter gear and shop shop shop! I've recently discovered some great stuff that will get me through to summer...

Latest favorite things:

Clothing: Loving the Gsus spring collection 2004...mostly for the little pleated skirt i just bought this weekend. it's satin, and the print is an old chinese painting. with red trim. very very cute.

Shoes: a pair of Irregular Choice. their shoes are to die for! i just got some lovely white flats with pink trim and little kitten heels. I can't wait to wear them. (why does it have to snow tomorrow? argh..)

Shower product: Few may know that I am obsessed with bath products. However, for sharing's sake, I have officially thrown out my bar of Bohemian soap from Lush for Kiehl's Body wash in Grapefruit.

Movie: Eternal Sunshine in the Spotless Mind i wasn't expecting much going in, due to a nonsensical trailer, and my love for Jim Carrey in stupid goofball roles but this movie was absolutely outstanding. i won't give it away for those of you who haven't seen it yet, but it's a great commentary on human psychology and the human need for companionship. ok, that's not a good way to sell it either. it's a little confusing at first, but it's very smart, introspective, funny at times and something you've never seen before.

Song: WuShuang (no equal) - by Dada ..I'm in love with a Chinese boy band! Am planning to move to China, so i can hunt them down, and marry all of them. well, maybe just the one that's not shorter than me.

Band: Aside from the above, I've been getting into the punk/rock scene. Guess I'm gearing up for Coachella. Currently on my playlist: Wilco, Cursive, Sahara Hotnights, Deathcab for Cutie, Thursday, The Stills, The Postal Service, and The Strokes (gonna see them in May with some of the cooler people i work with..)

Activity: Drawing class at the MFA! nothing like wandering around a gorgeous museum with a pencil, pad of paper and someone who can tell you what you're doing wrong

Drink: Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla Iced Coffee

Food: Foie Gras! I don't care what they say, but goose liver is good. vive la france!

--break from work--

wow, from the 18th floor of the pru, overlooking fenway and the charles river, i just watched a snow squall approach and blanket boston with a wintry mix of ice, snow and fog in minutes! unbelievable.

...and now (a few more minutes later) the oppressive darkness is gone and we're back to sunny blue skies. isn't weather amazing??

anyway, speaking of weather, here's what i've got to look forward to:

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy skies early will give way to cloudy skies and light snow after midnight. Cold. Wind chills may approach -15F. Low around 0F. Winds WNW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 60%.

Thursday: Windy with morning snow showers. Highs in the upper single digits and lows -2 to -6F.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

SO cousin Ivy is getting married in houston this coming march (already! can you believe it?!) and I've been asked to do a reading. i'm really not one for public speaking as you could guess, but i'm gonna try my best to do this without too much embarrassment... but for any of you going, i can guarantee you'll be in for a performance.

anyhow i've been researching the world of wedding readings, which is full of trite & cheesy how-do-i-love-thee poems, but among all the sentimental crap I found a Lebanese philosopher poet that I really dig.

Are you ready? Here's some of it. (It's kinda abstract, but I like it.)
